Solo Interactive Fiction?

Is such thing possible? Does the concept make sense?

Interactive: I get two definitions:

I don't see how any of these can apply to an essentially solo game. The second one, in particular, requires some sort of communication between people. The first is more nuanced: it's true that you can play a computer game (or let's say a gamebook) alone, yet that's based on a framework that, typically, somebody else set up for us in advance. In such case either we aren't playing truly alone or it isn't truly interactive.

Perhaps we should just say that "we want to play role-playing games, but on our own", either by preference or because we cannot find a group.

Or, we just want to make up stories in our minds, just as when we were kids, adding dice, perhaps.
